Subbotnik Jews are a type of Israeli Jew. They are Karaimite Jews who have opted to go through an Orthodox Giyur Lechumra without turning their backs on their Subbotnik heritage. They played a major role in the first Aliyah. They are distinct from Talmudist Subbotnik Gerei.
