In plural form the Hebrew word Mahmad becomes [[Mahamadim]] (מחמדים) being the name of the Angel of the L-rd given in the Song of Solomon 5:16 and described extensively in the Romaniote book called the Shiur Qomah.
Mahmad came to be used as a personal name by certain Arabs in reference to Jesus from 638CE onwards.
