Before he came to power, his Sadducee-Ishmaelite predecessor sent him to conquer the Bakr faction of Al-Hira in 633 forcing the Banu Qabisah to serve him as spies.
After he came to power he led Tachkastan against the Patriarchate of Jerusalemin 634. He favoured Monophysites and appointed the Monophysite Armenian Patriarch Abraham I as Patriarch of Jerusalem in 638.
