Erica C. D. Hunter believed that Bar Hebraeus inserted the word Kerait (Karaylar) into the text about the conversion of a Turkic tribe by the metropolitan of Merv because Erica believed that Keraits (Karaylar) were only existent in Mongolia (having only come across their mention in the histories of the Mongol empire) thus suggesting that the incumbent of Kashgar would have been more appropriate for mention in a story about the conversion of Keraits (Karaylar) to Nestorianism.
