Toledot Yeshu
The Toledot Yeshu is an extremely antisemitic and slanderous twist on the Teliya Ye.Sh.U. (the origin story for the Evangelion from the Judaic perspective which picks up where the book of Acts left off).
It was developed over several centuries by Anti-Semites starting with Celsus and developed by Ramón Marti in his anti-Jewish work Pugio fidei later developed into the the antisemitic slander Schem Hamphoras by his successor Wolfgang Capito. It was further re-vamped in Johann Christoph Wagenseil's Antisemitic 1681 Satan's Fiery Darts.
With each generation a word was changed here and there and adding more and more narrative to enforce a negative picture. The Toledoth Yeshu is directly responsible for the Blood Libel which caused crusaders to massacre Jews during the crusades, during the Black death and led to the murder of countless Jews during the Chelmitsky uprising and later Pogroms as well as the Holocaust.
Its fullest form where it finally came to be known as Toledot Yeshu was developed by Johann Jacob Huldreich in 1705. It went through Eisenmenger echoes during Victorian times then the Nazi Der Stürmer serialized twisted Toledot (e.g., Yeshu as "Jewish lie"). Himmler's speeches also invoked deicide alongside other Nazi propaganda (e.g., Der Giftpilz cartoons). Hereford and others have also contributed to the lie.
The main twist is that all of these antisemitic authors deliberately misidentify wicked Yeshu the son of Mary Magdalene as righteous Jesous the Rabbi of Mary Magdalene.
The first person to use the name Toledot Yeshu was Huldreich who deliberately took the name from the Hebrew Gospel of Matthew by Shem-Tov ibn Shaprut (c. 1375–after 1439) and applied it to the twisted Antisemitic Propaganda to cause deliberate confusion and hatred of Jews. Judaic texts like Beresheit and Vayikra etc. are always named by incipit ie after the first word or word of a text as in the case with Shem Tov's Gospel but not the ccase with Huldreich's Toledot Yeshu further proving that the Toledoth Yeshu is an Antisemitic fabrication since no version begins with those words.
Post-war, "stigma reversal" (e.g., 1970s academic editions) indirectly normalized blood libel tropes, right up to the present day. Only Stigma reversal by less religious Jews (including some Jewish Academics in the Post Holocaust era has led to the belief that the Toledoth Yeshu is a Jewish text rather than twisted corruption of a Judaic base text despite no text by the name Toledot Yeshu (other than Shem-Tov ibn Shaprut's Hebrew Gospel of Matthew) has ever been found among Jews.
Considering the Antisemite's Toledoth Yeshu makes Jews look so bad it is astounding that there would be any Jews who embrace stigma reversal concerning it. One can only be suspicious of such people.
