I meant to tell you that I thought that article was very good. I hope you develop this further.

It seems to me that there is no truth that there is something called "secular". This is simply an idea that was developed by Imperial Rome as it imposed a minimum common law on all its conquered states. But the real tragedy is that it divorces the fulfillment of law and "being a good person" from any concept of spirituality. If someone builds his house according to accepted building codes he is not only following the law but he has a reward in heaven.

IMHO The separation of church and state derives from the separation of prophet and king. But idea was not that they should never meet, in fact it was when "the prophet" who represented the rights and obligations of to people towards G-d met with "the king" who represented the needs of the people, that true law and justice was created. --Abrahamson 03:01, 9 July 2007 (EDT)
