Subbotnik Jews are a Pharisaical community who identified themselves as religious Jews (Yudei) not simply Hebrews (Yevrei). But unlike other Pharisaical communities, Subbotnik or Shabbati Jews believe most if the laws if Judaism only apply for Sabbaths and Yom Tovs. These days thay are mainly a type of Israeli Jew but who usually have to go through an Orthodox Giyur Lechumra though not turning their backs on their Subbotnik heritage and have settled in Israel. They are distinct from Talmudist Subbotnik Gerei who reject their Subbotnik heritage in order to assimilate into one or another specific Hassidic movement. Subbotnik Jews follow the Yerushalmi Palestinian Minhag HaQaraim but are not Karaite Jews.

Subbotnik Jews are legally permitted to serve as a Beth Din to oversee the Subbotnik Noahites.]
