Subbotnik Jews are a type of Israeli Jew with Karaimite origins but who have opted to go through an Orthodox Giyur Lechumra without turning their backs on their Karaimite Subbotnik heritage and have settled in Israel. They are distinct from Talmudist Subbotnik Gerei who reject their Subbotnik heritage in order to assimilate into Hassidic culture.

Subbotnik Jews are sometimes called Karaimite Jews or Russian Karaims. They replaced the Crimean Karaite Turks as Pastors to the Karaimites after the Crimean Karaite Turks rejected the Karaimite Jewish religion.
