They are [[Karaimite Jews]] with Noahite Subbotnik origins but who have opted to go through an Orthodox Giyur Lechumra without turning their backs on their Subbotnik heritage. They played a major role and have settled in the first AliyahIsrael. They are distinct from Talmudist Subbotnik Gereiwho reject their Subbotnik heritage in order to assimilate into one or another specific Hassidic movement. Subbotnik Jews follow Judah ben Tabbai's Yerushalmi Palestinian Minhag HaQaraim but are not Karaite Jews.
