They are distinct from Talmudist Subbotnik Gerei who reject their Subbotnik heritage in order to assimilate into Hassidic culture.
Subbotnik Jews are sometimes called Karaimite Jews or Russian Karaims. They replaced the Crimean Karaite Turks legally permitted to serve as Pastors a Beth Din to the Karaimites after the Crimean Karaite Turks rejected the Karaimite Jewish religionmediate for Subbotnik Noahites.
