Usually transliterated Sabta. Josephus identifies this nation with the Astaborans. The Talmud identifies it with outer Takistan, see S'bha. The Targum renders it S'midai, Smadai or Samrai, a Cushite tribe. Lembrit(?) to the south of Mero. The Sabrata of North Africa might prove to have E2 Haplogroup genes among them indicating their origin from here.
