Al-Lahazim were Zoroastrian Arabs who served in Khosrau II's army but after defeating the Romans in 610, the Karaish who had settled in Mamuca did not allow them access to Al-Masjid Al-Haram.

When Emperor Heraclius evicted the Karaish from Edessa in the early 620s, Heraclius granted them Arabia.

Meanwhile Gabriel of Al-Lahazim came from Heraclius announcing the decree from on high to unite in religion. The Karaishe thought they could use this to their advantage and went from Edessa to Tachkastan where their Ma'amad, Mehmet, Muhmad, Mahmud established an alliance with the Al-Lahazim in 622. After the Al-Lahazim had conquered Hira, the Karaishe sent Khalid to subjugate the Al-Lahazim in 633.

The Al-Lahazim established a union with the house of Sassan through Shahrbonu and converted Uthman to their religion.

Uthman came to power and promoted the Quran much to the annoyance of his family and other Karaishe. Uthman appointed Ali as his successor. The Karaishe went to war against the Al-Lahazim but the Al-Lahazim won and ruled until 660 when they were overthrown by the Karaishe again. The terms of the peace treaty promised that the Al-Lahazim Candidate (Hussein) would rule following Muawiya but the Karaishe did not keep their promise and killed the Al-Lahazim Candidate.

Hence the Al-Lahazim established ibn Al-Zubayir as their Sassanian ruler.

Abdul Malik crushed Al-Lahazim in 692 but adopted their religion to prevent any further uprisings.

Al-Lahazim overthrew the Umayyads in 649 as the Abbasids.
