The giant '''Nimrod''' (Anu/Caelus/Uranus/Set) of Cush son of Ham was father leader of the post-diluvian [[Titans]] including and stepfather to Abraham's servant, [[דַּמֶּשֶׂק אֱלִיעֶזֶר|Damméśeq ʾĔlîʿézer]]. His name has become proverbial as that of a mighty hunter. In Rabbinical tradition he is accredited with the construction of the tower of babel where the so-called "Semitic" languages (including the Akkadian one branch of the Afroasiatic languages like ancient Egyptian) were used. His "kingdom" (called Kish and therefore somewhat semitic in language according to Sumerian records) thus comprised not only Babel, but also Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the Arabian peninsula land of Sinar, otherwise known as the land of Nimrod (Gen. x. 8-10; I Chron. i. 10; Micah v. 5 [A. V. 6]).E. G. H. M. Sel. Much of Nimrodia eventually became the Assyrian Empire.
