'''Nimrod''' was the son in law of Cush son of Ham; his name has become proverbial as that of a mighty hunter. His "kingdom" comprised Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Sinar, otherwise known as the land of Nimrod (Gen. x. 8-10; I Chron. i. 10; Micah v. 5 [A. V. 6]).E. G. H. M. Sel. Although he was the father of Abraham's servant, Eliezer and founder of a Y-chromosomal E1b1b1 Haplogroup lineage, his own paternity (being only a son-in law to Cush) is subject of some controversy due to confusion in Targums concerning Pathrus and Caslukh in identification with Mount Cassius. Much of the Arabian peninsula of Nimrodia eventually became the Assyrian Empire. The giant Nimrod has been identified with the so-called "Semitic" people of Cronus-Saturn leader of the Titans in Greco-Roman myth.
