Mehmet the Ishmaelite was a Pahlavi Yazdanized Proto-Karaite of Tachkastan's Tayyaye and whose existence is corroborated by 1) Numismatic evidence; 2) Thomas the Presbyter; 3) and Sebeos. His name is Persian meaning Dead Moon perhaps because of the Blood-Moon which occurred around the time of his birth[1].

He might have been the historical person behind the Islamic legends of Iyas ibn Qabisa and/or an amalgamated muhammad's central character whose paternal Grandfather was Jewish, which if true would have meant that Mehmet would have been considered Zera Israel (Bani Israel in Arabic). However, the same legends describe that he was married by Warakah to Khadijah before Warakah became a Nasrani and that he practiced as a Gnostic (Hanif) in the cells of Al-Hira where he met Dihyah's father Khalifah Gabriel al-Kalbi who convinced him to become a Noahite Gnostic. Several Gnostics subsequently criticized him for "corrupting" Gnosticism. He was probably murdered by Aisha of the Bakr family.

After his death, Mehmet was promoted by his Pahlavi subjects as "MḤMT' PTGMBI Y YZDT" and probably by many Gnostic Christians as the return of the Gnostic Christian Mahmad but they were opposed in the Quraysh Quran which said no one is Muhammad or Jesus but Thanksgiving (ahmed).
