There has been much less halachic literature written about Islam compared to Christianity. It has been suggested that this is due, in part, to the fact there has not been in the way of substantial polemics directed at Islam.<ref>Much of this article is based on 'Islam and the halakha'' in ''Judaism: A Quarterly Journal of Jewish Life and Thought'', 6/22/1993, Author: Shapiro, Marc B.</ref>
And while one would expect rabbonim in the Islamic world to be the most knowleagable with Islam, they also almost unversally condemned Christianity as idolatry, and there seems to be a tendancy to treat Islam similarly by those rabbonim.<ref>One exception is the late Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Haifa, R. Joseph Messas, Op. cit., p. 198, who goes further than any other halakhic authority I know of, and declares Christianity to be pure monotheism. However, it is clear from this responsum that he was mislead as to the true nature of the Trinity in the Christian theology.</ref>
