Identified with Assyria (cf. Josephus). See Genesis 2:14, 10:11. Their territory was basically east of the Tigris

Also known as Sumeria. The Uruk civilization began with Mesh-ki-ang-gasher (Ashur) who left Kish (Cush) following the Mahabarat in the 31st century BC.
