In the Universal Torah Communion (UTC) the Hawariyun / Hawariyyun / Haverim are the families of Imran's 72 descendants hand picked by Ιησο as the True Companions (Hawariyun) constituting the Judeo-Sufi Abbey of Cheraman which supervises the Abrahamic (Ahlulbait) network dedicated to serving other nations as a chaplaincy particularly diligent keeping the principles of Tahorah Ha-Levim. Following strict rules on meat preparation, many will observe a Lacto-Pesco-Ovo-Vegetarian diet when water suitable for tevilah is scarce, though honey-roast locusts are a popular snack. Much can be learned about the pre-Quranic history of the Hawariyun (Haverim) from the Talmud. Muslims who do not uphold the law of Moses to their utmost (as per Sunnah) are not Hawariyun, the full set of rules which otherwise applies only to the Ahlulbait alone.
A young priest called Yahia (Ha-Matbil) who was also a surviving member of the Hasmonaean descendants of Phinehas, led a mission of Hawariyun attempting to teach the principles of Tahorah Ha-Levim to the "Judaeans" (the Herodian Kingdom of Judaea's Roman citizens) or Herodians as they should more appropriately be referred to, and they soon began to regard him as a Nabi. Yahia's Shammai-Zealot mission, attaching themselves to his cousin Ιησο, failed to make the same progress among Herodians following Yahiah's death as they did during his lifetime. Judging by Mandaean writings the failure should be ascribed to Paul.
Ιησο's concern was with counter-missionary retrieval of Jews from among the Notzrim and guiding their gentiles into the right path. Ιησο's family were friendly with both Shimon ben Hillel (Holy Simeon the Elder) and Nicodemus ben Gurion. One of Ιησο's Hawariyun was Simon ben Gamaliel. Together the sages commissioned Shimeon Caipha to lead the mission to guide the Arameans into the path of Noah and convert their Naṣuraiia into a Priesthood of Mosaists. No-one among the Hawariyun was more knowledgeable about Mithraism than a former student of Gamaliel called Saul Ha Benjamini of Tarsus who had attached himself to the Synagogue of Freedmen in an attempt to win favour with the Herodian court prior to his enlightenment. Although Saul observed HaLakhah Beth Hillel, Shimeon Kefa welcomed Saul into his mission with some restrictions. John Mark and Joshua ben Ananias of Damascus assisted Saul ha-Benjamini in his escape from Jerusalem.
Later Hawariyun included Rav Eliezer ben Hyrcanus, Rav Ishmael, Rav Samuel the Little, and Rav Meir. They moved to Pella rather than join the 132-135CE Bar Kochba revolution and then Edessa. In 318CE Pope Sylvester betrayed the Hawariyun and by 333CE had urged Constantine to devise Anti-Torah legislation which caused many to flee to Cheraman in 345CE where they survived to eventually establish the Cheraman Abbey until the Caliphist and Portuguese Inquisitions. Hawariyun were only able to serve communities at the extreme edges of the Roman Empire. Nusayb remained a centre for courts under the auspices of the 72 Cheraman families of Hawariyun until the time of Babai the Nestorian evicted Salman Farsi's community from Mount Izla in 604. That court fled southward into Arabia where they organised themselves under the non-celibate cenobitic Rule of Mustafa ibn Abdullah, the greatest of their saints in Medina, later managing to maintain their tradition as the Ahlulbayt in Damascus.
Despite the 664 Synod of Whitby, a century later, the Angle King Offa of Mercia was certainly still preserving the ways. Shams Tabrizi and Al-Kamil (who influenced both Francis of Assisi and the King of Jerusalem Frederick II of Hohenstaufen) were significant followers with many crusaders such as the Templars, and Hospitalers reviving the tradition back in central Europe, though later persecutions forced them to its more northerly reaches.
