ܩܪܐܢ

The Qiryan (Karaean, ܩܪܐܢ, lectionary) is a madnhâyâ script Garshuni compilation of spiritual lessons presented in the name of ܐܠܡܢܝܒ given by the Shama'ani/Ashma'ithi and 'Anani Gahans to those laity who have taken clerical vows among the the Kara-Tat, Kiraim-Tat, Khvar-Tat, and Gok-Tat hordes of the Kereit (Karaylar).

It seems to have originated in the vicinity of modern Jordan between the years 604CE and 628CE among those preserving the lifestyle of the clerical families evicted from Mount Izla and Nusaybin by Babai "the Great" of the Nestorian Church.

By the divine's name all kind, all merciful,002:001 ΠΆΣΧΩ002:002 that (O minister) is the text of no doubt, whereof is teaching unto the pious002:003 who trust in the visions, and establish communion, and spend of that WE (ܨܦܐܬ ܐܠܠܗ) have bestowed upon them,002:004 and those who trust in that which is revealed unto thee (O minister), with that which was revealed from before thee, while being certain of the hereafter.002:005 these such are on teaching from their master, and these such, they are the successful.

002:008 But of the people are some who say: "We believe in The DIVINE and the Last Day" although they are not in belief 002.009 (aiming) to beguile The DIVINE and those who believe though they beguile none save their own identities and they perceive not. 002.010 In their hearts is a disease, for divinity has developed their disease, and to them is a tragic doom in that they are speakers of lies. 002.011 Once it is said unto them: Make not mischief in the earth they say: "We are harmonisers only!" 002.012 Are not they indeed the mischief-makers? But they perceive not. 002.013 Once it is said unto them: "Believe as the people believe" they ask: "Shall we believe as the foolish believe?" Are not they indeed the foolish? But they know not. 002.014 Once they fall in with those who believe they say: "AMEN" but when they go apart to their devils they declare: "Lo! we are with you verily we did but mock." 002.015 Divinity makes a mockery of them leaving them to wander blindly on in their contumacy. 002.016 These are they who purchase error at the price of guidance so their commerce doth not prosper neither are they guided. 002.017 Their likeness is as the likeness of the one whose kindled fire such that it sheds its light around his shadow. The subject of The DIVINE taketh away their light and leaves them in darkness where they cannot see. 002.018 Deaf, dumb, and blind, and they repent not. 002.019 Or like a rainstorm from the sky wherein is darkness thunder and the flash of lightning. They thrust their fingers in their ears by reason of the thunder-claps for fear of death, but The DIVINE encompasses the disbelievers. 002.020 The lightning almost snatching away their sight from them as often as it flashes forth for them. They walk therein but when it darkens against them they stand still. If The DIVINE willed it could destroy their hearing and their sight Lo! The DIVINE is Able to do all things.

002.021 O Ye the people! Serve your MASTER the one (who) has designed you and those before you so that ye may be prudent002.022 The one (who) has appointed the earth a resting-place for you and the sky a canopy and causes water to pour down from the sky thereby producing fruits as food for you, so do not set up rivals to divinity while ye know.002.023 Though if Ye-people are in doubt concerning that which WE reveal unto OUR deacon then produce a passage of the like thereof and call your witnesses beside The DIVINE if ye are loyal002.024 BUT if ye do it not -and YE people can never do it- finally guard yourselves against the fire prepared for disbelievers whose fuel is of men and stones.
